At half, past 8 o'clock tbU morning a special traiu pulled out from Front street depot, having on board a happy crowd bound for the pleasant banks and shady shores ot Lke Waccamaw. It was the occasion of the annual excursion of the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Sunday School and judging by the num ber of those who attended and the happy countenances gathered cn board the train they were all bound for a, day of rare en joyment. We trust that it has, indeed, been so. Ills New Quarters. A iargeaLd happy crowd went down the rivtr this morning on th? steam yacht Passport , the ocoision being the annual excaisiuu ot the Young Catholic Friends Society. There was a band of. nfhsic along and the reasonable supposition is that, it has been a vtry pleasaut day with all who were there. It ha3 been a de iightful day for being out on tbe watr. Something deeded. Ojt attention has been, on more than one occasion, called to the fact that the numerous valuable ,papers, bills, deeda.&c.i now stored in the office of the Superior Court Clerk, in the' Court Houseware to tally unprotected as against fire. There is more than one inflammable building'in the near neighborhood of the Court House, and in the case of a fire at night these valuable papers stand a very good chance f being destroyed before they can be removed. A small fire proof building, erected especially, for storing valuable papers, could be easily built in the Court House yard and that at a moderate cost In time of peace prepare for war. Physicians freely prescribe the new Food Medicine, "Malt Bitters," because more nourishing, strengthening and purl fying than all oiber forms of malt or medi cine, while free from the objections urged against malt liquors, ' 4w Complimentary Excursion. It was first intended on the x,art f Stonewall Lodge to give it as a surprise, but npon reconsideration it was thought best to notify Germania Lodge so that their families and friends could be gotten in readiness for the occasion. The best of good feeling has always been evinced be tween the two Lodges and it is "nip and tuck" between them as to which shall show the greatest courtesy to the other. Music and refreshments will be served and the memberj of both Lodges antici pate a grand time. Haifa Vegetable Sicilian Hair Renew er is a splendid dressing for the hair. No other like it. How About It? As loog as the city author ties are keeping the old maiket building standing in the centre of one of the principal t bcroughfares of tbe city for the bene fit of three or four old colored women, who run ccoking stalls and booths, we think that they should certainly keep the old disgrace in thorough order. We ac tually saw two of the women down on their knees on yesterday laying the pave ment and soiling their tender hands while engaged iu the degrading work. Fgr the tetter convenience and comfort of these, ladies, for whose benefit the bnildicg seems allowed to stand, we would sug gest that hammocks and ice be furnished and that a steward and retinue of ser vants be employed to administer to their comforts. We would farther suggest that beds b placed on the stalls for tbe benefit nf the friends and patrons of the old market. '. Windrrw Glass of all siz. In swelled neck, wash the place with brine drink twice a day, also, until cured. Salt will expel worms if used in food in a moderate degree and aid digestion, but salt meat is Injurious if used much. Grass hats of unmistakaole hay color are the rustic mode this Summer. How nice to be able to say 'this Summer,' with another twist of the shawl about one's shoulders 1 The hats are trimmed accord ing to individual fancy, with a cluster of plush cherries and strawberries ' in wool, a wreath of crewel embroidery, or an Ophelia chaplot of dried feather grass and wild oats.
